Christmas 2017

December 14th, 2017

With Christmas just around the corner it seems that there are a hundred things to do and no time to get them done. Lucky for me my wife does most or I should say all the shopping so that is one less thing to worry about. We prepare the home for Christmas starting just after Thanksgiving and it seems we aren’t quite done till its time to take things down again. With all the things we try to get done no matter how it turns out Christmas comes and we remember the real reason for the season and that is the birth of the Christ Child. In our house we have a tradition our whole family which includes my two daughters their husbands and four grand children come over on Christmas eve and stay the night and if they aren’t busy doing things with the spouses side of the family they stay all Christmas day. We have been doing this for 17 years and I hope it continues for many more years.

Take time to enjoy family and reflect on the real meaning of Christmas, if you have no place to go you can come to our home its always open.

Spring is just around the corner.

April 3rd, 2017

As we wind down from the winter blues of grey skies and cold weather I for one am ready to see warmer days and sunshine. With the housing market still at a feverish pace we on our team are on track to have a bonus year. Why is this year different from the past, a couple of things we have done to make our system work smoother and more efficient. We have stepped up our lead generation and are working on personal contact with past and future clients. The housing market is still on the up swing and we plan to make the most of it as long as we can. Real Estate isn’t rocket science but some make it out to be, I have learned that if you do a good job, be fair and honest, and treat people better than they expect, you will be successful in the business.

Here is hoping all of you have a bonus year and make tons of friends and money.

Fall has Fallen

October 13th, 2016

This is the time of year when we gear up for the cold winter months in more ways than one, we get our homes in condition for the winter months check everything outside to make sure its ready for the cold winter blasts on unyielding wind. Another important part of our schedules are to gear up for the slow season of winter, making contacts, lead generation, and getting our financial plans in order to see if we have had a successful year or not. If you are into Real Estate you really don’t have a off time of year, we plan for the next year so we can hit the spring running and continue the pace that we desire to satisfy our life styles. Whether you are in it for the long haul or a part timer you need to plan and execute to make the most of your efforts. Have a Great Fall.

Lead Generation, Life Line to Sales

May 9th, 2016

One thing that Realtors have to do one way or another is Lead Generate. For most Realtors they take time in the morning to do just that by calling on prospects they have found thru the media, lead generators, contacts, or a host of other means to bring phone numbers to call. This is one of the most important parts of Real estate with out this we have no listings and that makes it twice as hard to sell homes. They always say you have to list to sell, and there is some truth to that statement. In out market we have a shortage of homes to list and finding them is a challenge sometimes. If you have been in the business for a number of years or have been doing a extensive networking program this helps to find the leads to list. The bottom line is you have to work to get the listing and not expect them to always call you. Now repeat clients are a dream come true and I wish I could survive on them, but in order to grow we need to generate.

Getting Ready for the Spring

February 18th, 2016

Back from vacation and ready to go, well not quite. We had a great vacation to sunny California for 3 weeks starting at San Francisco and ending at San Diego the weather was ideal with rain only one day. Back at work now is the time to make sure I have all my tools in place for the year, what do I mean by that, well making sure I have made contact with my contacts, a plan in place to secure new listings, getting all the necessary paper work done for the business plan, and just implementing the basic real estate lead generating tools. We have made a few changes to our program, since I work by my self and not on a team, decisions are a little different we don’t have a huge budget like some of the teams do so we have to make the most of our dollar. With the weather in South Dakota starting to warm a little and spirits lifting from the winter blues it looks like it will be a good year to be in Real Estate. May all of you have a prosperous and rewarding year.

Vacation

January 12th, 2016

The time has finally arrived, after waiting all winter its time to leave the cold for 3 weeks of warmer weather. My wife and I have been doing this for a number of years and find that its a great way to break up the ho drums of winter. Over the years we have traveled to many places outside of the United States but find that we still have a number of places we haven’t been to in the US. Finding warmer climates leaves us with one choice go south, so this year we are going to go back to sunny California. Last year we started a vacation there but had it cut short because of a family emergency, so this year we are going to do almost the same as we had planned. First we will fly to San Francisco spend a few days there then start to make our way south to San Diego, stopping at Napa Valley, Sonoma, and more all while driving the Highway 1. Spending a week in San Diego at the condo over looking Pacific Beach is extremely relaxing while taking in the Zoo, museums, and just driving.

We find California a great place to visit and enjoy it every time that we return. Here’s hopping for a trouble free, stress free, and relaxing vacation.

January, Time for new Beginnings

January 4th, 2016

Does January feel like the month that just doesn’t end? With the cold weather, snow, short days, we can get in a slump and find it hard to work out of. First we need to realize that January is the beginning of a new year with all the goals that we have set for ourselves we need to get to work and get the plan into action, by now we should have our yearly goals set, so all we have to do is do them right? Why does it seem so hard to get motivated to put those plans into effect. This is where we have to be disciplined and do what we need to do to accomplish our goals, I know it may seem hard to get going after all the Christmas celebrating, just remember the days are getting longer and spring will be here before we know it. 2016 will be a good year in Real Estate for everyone that wants it to be, remember discipline, work ethics, and a desire to succeed will bring success to those that want it.

Fun Post About Christmas

December 14th, 2015

With the Christmas season just about upon us I thought I would share a few of our traditions that we do. My immediate family lives in the same town as we do so this all makes things so much easier for all this to happen, last night was the Church Christmas program, which is always such a joy to see the grandkids perform to the best of their abilities, the house was packed and we all had a great time. One of the next things we do is get together with my brothers and their families and my Dad, this is the first year my Mother wasn’t there, she passed away last February. We still had a fun time visiting and watching the grandkids run, shared about Grandma, had a big meal, this was a good night. Coming up on Christmas eve my immediate family goes to Candle light service at Church then they all come to our home for food, opening presents, and to spend the night so they can open presents from Santa Claus in the morning. We have done this for about 12 years and our family has grown to 10 over this time, this is a time that the grandkids look forward to all year, and well so do I. Christmas day if the spouses don’t have their family gatherings then we all just hang out for the day and enjoy food, football, games, and whatever else we can come up with. Simple traditions that carry memories for a lifetime. Merry Christmas

Getting your home ready for winter.

October 29th, 2015

Its that time of the year and the snow fall won’t be far behind according to the calendar. Now it time to get your home ready for the cold winter, if you have a lawn sprinkler system that needs to be blown out to prevent freeze ups, and when you are doing that would be a great time to pick up the garden hoses and put them away for the season also. If the leaves have fallen and are picked up its also a good time to clean out the gutters so when we get those spring rains so they work properly and keep the water away from your home. With that done a visual inspection of the windows and caulk around them make sure there is a solid bead of caulk around the window and the seals are doing there job. If you have window wells now is the time to clean them out of all debris to prevent unwanted guests to make nests in them. Do your garage doors seal properly if the seal is wore out its a simple fix to replace and will keep your garage warmer and more comfortable for you this cold winter. Don’t for get to put all the lawn furniture away to prevent premature weathering from the winter weather. Simple things to do can save you money and keep your home looking like new.

Lets not forget the inside basics, first the furnace replace the filter which should be done every month , also its a good idea to have your furnace checked before the first cold spell to make sure its operating properly and safely.

Out home is usually our biggest investment and to preserve the value and beauty we just need to do a few simple things to ensure that.
